In realizing most hospital and nursing home patients receive safe nursing and medical care, unfortunately, many patients do NOT. Untimely care is unsafe and can cause the patient’s physical condition to deteriorate, which can result in patient accident, injury, or preventable death.

Bonnie S. Compton founded Bonnie Compton Legal Nurse Consultant, LLC, after her thorough case review of an obstetric patient revealed negligent and untimely care by the woman’s admitting physician. This physician failed to assess the patient in person and to respond to the nurses’ early and frequent calls and documentation that revealed the patient, 7 months pregnant, was in agonizing abdominal pain. Moreover, the admitting MD called no other MD to assess or treat the patient. When the patient was taken to the delivery room 8 hours after admission for a C-section, both Mother and Baby died from what the pathologist diagnosed and documented as abruptio placenta.

On graduating from The University of Texas School of Nursing in 1983, Bonnie’s career as a professional registered nurse spans 42+ years. During this time, Bonnie gained invaluable clinical nursing experience in most all areas of nursing. Her passion and expertise lie in the auditing and abstraction of clinical documentation. Bonnie is meticulous and successful in detecting mistakes or omissions in the patient record that reveal unsafe medical and/or nursing care which resulted in harm to the patient, be it accident, injury, or death.
